Wavy H2O is a multi-talented individual with a passion for music and entertainment! As a producer, artist, DJ, and engineer, he has a strong influence on the music he creates and the performances he delivers. Being a part of NCEG, the Nation Collegiate Entertainers Group, indicates that he is also involved in a student organization that supports and promotes artistic talent among college students. Wavy H2O draws inspiration from artists like Gunna, Turbo, and Weezy for his production style. Gunna is known for his melodic flows and trap-style beats, Turbo is a prominent producer known for collaborating with Gunna and other popular artists, while Weezy, a producer with a diverse and influential body of work. By incorporating elements from the "Drip Era" sound and putting his own unique twist on it, Wavy H2O is likely creating a signature sound that sets him apart as an artist. What is the meaning behind your DJ name?
My DJ name stems from my producer and artist name, WAVYH2O. The name Wavy stems from the sound that I create when I make my beats, they simply sound wavy. The H2O on the back end makes it unique to me. 

Did you always want to be in the entertainment industry?
I didn’t always want to be in the entertainment industry, but I always was around it. My mom worked at Cox media when I was little, and my father also was a DJ. I would always be in the radio station around the equipment, or I was around the DJ equipment my dad stored at the house. Not too long after elementary school I got into making beats and DJing… I progressed from there.

How did you first get started in the entertainment industry?
I first started making beats and DJing in sixth grade. I would do small gigs with my dad and learn how to make beats on my free time. I got very familiar with Serato and Fruity Loops throughout High School.

What made you want to be a DJ in the industry?
My love for the craft DJing and music came early with curating playlist for family cookouts and events. I really knew that I wanted to do it seriously when I had my first successful gig in High School. 

What is your thought process when working on a new DJ Set?
My process will vary, depending on what demographic I’m playing music for. If I’m playing music for an older demographic, I try to figure out what songs were either popular when they were in High School or College. If it’s a younger demographic, I’ll try to find the newer songs that are on the top 40 hits list. It’s not hard to DJ for my age demographic because I’m right there with my people. I know what they want to hear because I’m part of the demographic.

What inspires you to DJ?
Seeing people get off their phones and actually dance. A good DJ can make the vibe of a mediocre club go through the roof. 

How would you describe yourself as a DJ?
I can adapt to any situation I’m in. If I need to switch out the five all it takes is a simple download and I can bring the party back. I have a very adaptive style of DJing. Any situation I’m in I’m able to play the music that’s right for the room.

What does music mean to you?
Music for me has always been an escape, ever since I was a kid it was always deeper than just the song. It was really a great release for me to actually express who I was as a person. 

Do you feel that artists really understand the business aspect of the music industry?
Many artists underestimate the business aspect, but it's crucial for sustainable success, involving marketing, branding, and understanding contracts. Being an independent artist means, you are your own business, and you must work with other businesses to find some sort of success. 

How important do you feel is having the right team?
Having the right team can help you get in the rooms that you need to get in and solely focus on your talent. Having people designated to important jobs like booking shows, or doing paperwork that you might not fully understand can help you maximize your time efficiency.

What is your long-term goal in life?
My long-term goal is to hopefully give a blueprint to people who have my same skill set. I learned how to do live engineering at an early age, and I gained audio engineer and producer knowledge before I got to college. I know what it’s like to develop the skills and then actually turn around and use them to your advantage. If I could help somebody early, that would be awesome. 

What is your motto of life?
It’s better to be overly prepared then not prepared at all.
